Impulsee is a small app for groups of friends to tell each other they're heading out. It's made by Isaac Parsons, an independent developer in Australia ("we", "us"). This page explains what the app collects, why, who else handles it, and how to get it deleted.
Questions or requests: hello@impulsee.fun
All of this is visible to the members of the crew it belongs to, and to nobody else in the app. Photos are stored at long, random web addresses that can't be guessed, but anyone who is given one of those addresses can open the photo.
When you're posting an event you can switch on venue search to see nearby pubs and bars. Only then does the app ask for location permission, and only while it's open. Your position is rounded to about 100 m before it leaves your phone, and is sent with what you type in the venue box to Google Places to find matching places. We don't store your location anywhere. If you leave venue search off, the app never reads your location.
We use Google Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics to see which parts of the app get used and to fix crashes.
Your app settings (notifications on or off, venue search on or off, display mode, and whether you've seen the intro screens) are kept on your phone and never sent to us.
We use these service providers to run the app. They handle data on our behalf, only for the purpose listed.
| Provider | What it does for Impulsee | What it receives |
|---|---|---|
| Supabase Privacy policy |
Our backend: sign-in, database, photo storage, and the server functions that send notifications, find venues and delete accounts. | Everything listed under "Your account", "What you do in the app" and "Notifications". |
| Expo push service (Expo) Privacy policy |
Passes our notifications on to your phone. | Your push token and the notification's text, which can include names, the venue, the crew name and the text of an update. |
| Firebase Cloud Messaging (Google) Privacy and security |
Delivers notifications to Android phones, on behalf of Expo. | Your phone's messaging token and the notification. |
| Google Places API (Google) Privacy policy |
Suggests venues when venue search is on. | Your rounded location and what you've typed in the venue box. Only when venue search is on. |
| Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics (Google) Privacy and security |
Usage statistics and crash reports. | As described above. Your account's random ID, device details, approximate location from your internet address. Never anything you type. |
| Gmail (Google) Privacy policy |
Sends sign-up confirmation and password reset emails, and receives your emails to us. | Your email address, and anything you write to us. |
These providers may store data on servers outside your country. We don't sell your data, share it with advertisers, or show ads. We'd only disclose it to anyone else if the law required us to.
In the app: Settings → Delete account. Deleted the app already? Email hello@impulsee.fun. The account deletion page has the details, including exactly what is deleted and what isn't.
Everything between the app and our servers is encrypted in transit (HTTPS). Access rules on the database mean only members of a crew can read that crew's events, updates and member list. No system is perfectly secure, but we only collect what the app needs, which keeps the risk small.
Impulsee is for people aged 18 and over. We don't knowingly collect data from anyone younger. If you think someone under 18 is using it, email us and we'll delete their account.
If we change what we collect or who we share it with, we'll update this page and the date at the top before the change reaches the app.
